I have a blog! Maybe I should actually use it.... and how better than for Dagmar Haiku's challenge to Switch your Gender for 0L.
Huge thanks go to my partner Flash Unplugged for his
inspiration and support, and Shadowed Luik for keeping up
SL Freebie Hunters which makes selecting and organizing hunt gifts SO much easier.
There were some scary moments at the beginning - but the process was fascinating. Both the gender changing AND the challenge of doing it for FREE.
I started with a shape from the awesome boys at
22769, a part of the
full-avatar that they gifted us with on the Supernatural Hunt.
I then thought the Dare-2-Bare Hunt sounded like a good place for a skin. I found this very nice one at
Edge of Sanity (also - I thought the name very appropriate). I'm wearing "Detour - Derm - Fuzzy".
For an A.O. I hit marketplace and picked a basic one from
Abramations. While there, I felt it important to prove that you can build a COMPLETE male avatar for 0L, so grabbed my guy the "
Real Penis".
Flash and I did the (again appropriately named) Perfect Couple Hunt and picked up tremendous suits, the dark at
Earthly Delights and the brown at
Naughty, Naughty (where Flashette got that fabulous gown).
I was a little miffed at my partner for using the
Poetic Color eyes - which I ADORE - although I enjoyed gazing into them. However, when you join the
Amacci group you get a great selection of eyes as a gift. I am wearing "Insight - BrownGreen".
The HAIR gave me by far the most difficulty, but ended up being one of the parts I was most pleased with. Firstly - free non-demo hair is VERY HARD TO FIND. Secondly, Lyr-a-man already had a style and an identity in my mind - a LOOK - and I wanted the perfect finish. As Flash/ette pointed out, the challenge was not purely to create an avatar - but a GOOD one. The answer came from a
LoQ Hairs group join gift. It is named "Tiramisu" and the tone is Platinum. I learned new things about prim manipulation (Thank you again Flash), but I am extremely pleased with the result.
I then made myself comfortable in my new "skin", and welcomed the arrival of the beautiful Flashette. As it was immediately apparent that s/he was the soul-mate of Lyr-a-man, I got down on my knees and poured out my heart to her. S/he was a little shocked - but mostly that I had actually succeeded in fulfilling every part of the challenge!
As much fun as it was... I did switch back to Lyrilen that night. Do you know what I missed most? MY SHOES (and I'm not even that much of a shoe person....) and my AO - but you have to expect that from any freebie.
Thank you
Dagmar for a terrific challenge. I learned a TON - most especially about BLOGGING. I have an increased respect for all of you that do this regularly. THANK YOU!!!
